Animation Comes to Text Messaging with JABS for IOS

I don’t text message, I just don’t feel the need to, so you guys and gals are going to have to tell me if this app is worthwhile or not. JABS let’s you animate your text messages using six different characters. The characters jab, punch, kick and interact in 36 different scenarios and give users the chance to land a virtual punch while texting with friends. Price is listed as 99 cents on their site but on iTunes it’s free. So I don’t know what the price is..

In 2011, 18- to 24-year-olds sent and received about 110 text messages every day, according to the Pew Research Center, and 75 percent of cell phone users in 21 countries surveyed now text. To make texting more fun and action-packed than ever, NovelSounds, Inc. recently released its first iPhone application, JABS, which packs a wallop as the next generation in text messaging.

Available in the iTunes App Store for $.99, JABS 1.2.3 uses six different animated characters for jabbing or animated texting. Users, also known as jabbers, and their friends can select from one of six characters: Bo Bo, Todd Duckin, London Snooterton, Al Cupachino, Chop Stickler and Rush Rushmore, which all have bios and personalities listed on the app and the http://www.jabsapp.com site.

“JABS is the coolest way to send a text message to a friend today because it brings traditional texts to life with a little punch and a lot of attitude,” said Shawn Ryan, president, NovelSounds, Inc. “We believe that Jabs animated texting is the next generation of texting and look forward to creating even crazier characters with future animations.”

After purchasing the JABS app, users can invite their friends to become Jabbers, and can change characters as often as they like. JABS 1.2.3 is available worldwide exclusively through the iTunes App Store in the Social Networking category and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
This is “such a great way to send a text. The characters have such a great attitude!” said Sharlette Ames, an early adopter from Escondido, Calif. “Exploring all the things you can do with the app is half of the fun.”
