Infinity Blade for iOS gets updated Content Pack #4

Easily my favorite game for the iPad is Infinity Blade. Even though I hadn’t played it much since Infinity Blade II came out, Chair Entertainment isn’t slacking a bit, because they just released an update with Content Pack #4. I gotta say, it is very rare that older games see updates, but with Infinity Blade, it has been really cool with all the updates. Here’s what you get in Content Pack #4:

Hey a free one for you, it’s been a while since I’ve posted any freebies, but today I have one for both Android and Apple users. The app is called Boost Your Memory and it’s a brain enhancing app to help improve your short and long term memory. Who know if it works, but for free I’d give it a try.

Elf Defense Hits the Appstore for iOS in HD

Woo-Hoo.. I didn’t have to get up at 5:30am today!! Got up at 7am instead, what a difference it makes too.. Anyway, here’s a new game announcement for you iOS users out there, it’s called Elf Defense and it’s yet another tower defense type of game but this one is with elves obviously. Price is $2.99 for all versions but the iPad is in HD so it’s better looking!

Family Fun Game Catch the Monkey Comes to iOS

Catch the Monkey is a new iPhone or iOS game from Mirthwerx that’s meant to be fun for the whole family. The game is meant to be one for everyone with less violence that most any other game out there. The idea is to get the monkeys from the farmer’s field and it seems like acute little game.

Catch the Monkey launches today in the Apple App Store. In Catch the Monkey, adorable and curious monkeys invade an elderly farmer’s field. Players help remove them by using a variety of humorous and non-violent tools. Finding the right tools to use was no easy task.

“We’re steeped in a gaming culture of violence. It was hard to break free and think of new solutions,” says co-designer Thomas Henshell. “Even mobile hits considered family-friendly contain cartoon violence. Plants vs. Zombies has shooting of zombies, while Angry Birds has the crushing of pigs.”

Artist and co-designer Alex Lin recalls the early design dilemmas, “The monkeys are like toddlers: cute, curious, and always getting into trouble. With this artistic direction it was clear the player cannot harm the monkeys. We discarded numerous concepts before one day discovering the key while observing a parent. When toddlers are doing something they shouldn’t, parents will shake a rattle to shift the child’s attention. Parents have been using distraction for centuries! With this distraction concept, we knew we could move forward and make a great game!”

But how would players feel about a non-violent action game? Thomas responds, “We know people may think non-violent means non-fun. This was a huge hurdle. It wasn’t about merely coming up with non-violent solutions, but coming up with fun and engaging non-violent solutions. The distraction mechanic makes for an enjoyable experience that can get quite intense. Yet, beneath the cute, funny visuals, is a game of serious depth. There is plenty of challenge even for the veteran gamer.”

Focus group testing results were extremely positive. “When we saw players giggling, jumping out of their seats, or yelling at the monkeys, we knew we were on to something,” says Alex. “It was difficult, but it feels great to create something families around the world can enjoy.”

Catch the Monkey is a casual action game featuring:

For those of you that don’t know what Reddit is, please acquaint yourself with the front page of the internet before we can continue. If you managed to make it back after checking out that link, then I’m impressed. Reddit is basically a place anyone can post links or media to a web page. You can view these links and either vote up or down on them. Links rise or fall on the web page based on these votes. The exact same thing occurs with comments on these links or media. Just about everything funny or interesting on the internet starts out by getting popular on Reddit. So I’ve been looking for a way to get my fix on the go. I’ve been using one of the first Reddit apps that came out on Windows Phone, called Alien News. The app was great at first and I even paid for it to remove the ads and possibly support development. Sadly, not a single shit was given and my Reddit app was lost and left behind in lack of mango functionality. So it eventually sent me on the search for greener pastures. Enter Baconit.

Where Alien News was bland and just text based, Baconit takes it that one step further to make it truly embody the design values of Metro. It brings lots of functionality into a small window and allows you quick access to many of the most used features on Reddit, like upvoting and downvoting, that wasn’t present in Alien News. It also offers the slickness of minor animations to let you know things have been activated, which is better than the barely perceptible click animation that is in most applications. Coupled with this slick beautiful sexiness is loads of functionality that would make a snap-on convention look useless. The cooked in mango-ness also allows you to share articles and other stories with friends through sms, email, social networks, or whatever your flavor of electronic communication may be without having to reload the damn app every time. Talking about how awesome this app is feels like I’m taking away from the content and awesome that Reddit can bring to your life. Go out there and become a good Redditor. It will definitely enhance your life in every way possible, or your money back. By the way, it’s free.

SlingPlayer Comes to Kindle Fire

So if you’re got a Kindle Fire, right now you can go and get the official SlingPlayer app and sling some media to it. Price is $29.99 which personally I think is a bit high considering you’ll have to buy a Slingbox if you don’t own one. if you already own one I still think it’s a bit high. What do you think? Is it worth it?

Zombie: the Rescue Hits the App Store

Yes it looks like we have another zombie game. I like zombies as much as the next guy, but I think there is a point when we can say it’s too much of a goof thing? or maybe not, Zombie: The Rescue has just hit the appstore for iOS devices and it’s a puzzle game that involves helping the hostages get out of zombie infested situations. Price is 99 cents and you can get to rescuing..

GOGN Entertainment has just launched Zombie: The Rescue, a new puzzle/action genre crossover for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Beta test feedback as well as preliminary reports of the game “in the wild” suggest that the new game has what it takes to win over the notoriously fickle iOS casual gaming crowd.

The game’s winning combination of puzzle-flavored action with the video game necessity du jour—zombies, of course—wouldn’t be enough by themselves to guarantee the game chart topping success.
