Titanium iPad2 Cases Coming from MeeMojo

I don’t know if you recall but a while ago I posted about the Aluminum billet cases from MeeMojo and besides the awesome good looks of them, their price is what really stuck me. The aluminum cases ran into the hundreds of dollars. The same company is set to release a titanium version of those cases, there’s no price listed so I can only imagine that most of use wouldn’t be able to afford them. To make things even more pricey, only 250 of them with be made, so I’m sure that will made the price even go higher…

MeeMojo.com, leading designer in aluminum iPhone and iPad2 cases, is now introducing a limited edition titanium iPad2 case. MeeMojo has had tremendous success creating aluminum cases for iPhones and iPads, but the introduction of the limited titanium case will even further their goal of designing a case that provides style and protection with attitude.

MeeMojo only plans on producing 250 titanium iPad2 cases, each one to have it’s own unique serial number. “Our aluminum cases have shown immense popularity,” said Tania Todorovic of MeeMojo, “but we wanted to add a unique case to give a more personalized feel.” To add to the personalization, customers will be able to add custom engravings to their titanium iPad2 case. The custom engraving will be personally added on the front face of each case with each customer’s choice of text.

MeeMojo will begin manufacturing on their titanium iPad2 cases once 50 cases have been pre-ordered. Seeing as only 250 are going to be produced, it is vital that customers get their names on the list quickly. A customer can be added to the list simply by filling out the contact form on the Contact tab at MeeMojo.com. After that a representative from MeeMojo will reach out to the customer to finalize their information and preferred customized text for their serial numbered case.

I don’t know, that was the best headline I could come up with. I’m just not in a very creative mood today. I’m just tired, and rather unhappy as I was expecting money and it’s not in my account yet. Mobility Digest Review: Trident Kraken AMS Case iPhone 4/4S

Yesterday, in case you missed it, I reviewed the Trident Kraken Series Case for the iPad 2. Today I have the Trident Kraken Series Case for the iPhone 4 and 4S to review for you. First impression of the Trident Kraken Series AMS Case is that it is wanting to compete in the high end maximum protection market with very notable competitors like OtterBox. The Kraken will have it’s work cut out for it with it’s price point at $49.95 advertised on their website so let’s go ahead and get into another Mobility Digest review of the Trident Kraken AMS Case for the iPhone 4/4S.

Residing in the cardboard and see through plastic clamshell case is a lot of pieces parts that we will take a look at for you. In the box you get :

There was a lot of stuff included in the Kraken AMS Case that I did not expect and I got to tell you that 3.5mm audio adapter reducer is one pretty handy little accessory. Another weird add to the kit is a rear protective film for your iPhone. This was quite confusing to me as the iPhone’s rear side is completely covered by the silicone sleeve. It’s added protection sure, but not worth the trouble of installing, so I didn’t. All things nicely packaged, let’s move on.

The general construction of the Kraken AMS case for the iPhone 4/4S is a two piece polycarbonate outer shell and a pretty nicely made inner silicone sleeve. This is completely different o other competitors that employ a two piece polycarbonate shell on the inside of a protective silicone sleeve outer. In both cases the sleeve is what will absorb the shock of the impact and resist passing the shock to your device. The two piece shell acting as armor. Unlike the Trident Kraken for the iPad 2, installing the Kraken AMs on an iPhone is no where near as easy

First off you need to install your iPhone 4/4S into the inner silicone sleeve which fit like a glove. all of the openings are perfectly matched and the silicone really felt high quality.

Next up is to install the front part of the two piece polycarbonate shell. this is a little more difficult because the fitment is very tight. Starting with the volume button side of the iPhone, angle it into the top shell piece and press down. The silicone kept wanting to “squish” out but firmly pressing it back into place got the front cover on without any damage. I did get the feeling that consistent removal and installation would lead to problems tearing the protruding silicone components.

As with the top shell piece, fitting the rear together with the top was quite difficult. I had a lot of problem getting them together and felt that increasing pressure might cause damage. However, once together, all of the components fit very snugly together and there was not gaps or play between them. Both of the shell components are very high quality as well as the inner silicone sleeve.

Another high spot for me with the Trident Kraken AMS case for the iPhone is the kickstand on the back side of the case. First, it looks really cool. Not your cheap plastic like we see elsewhere in case manufacturers, but high quality metal kickstand that is very thick and rigid. The hinge on the kickstand also is very impressive and firmly holds the kickstand open or securely closes it.

Now on to the belt clip or holster. This is the only place in the Kraken case that I thought the quality was a little lacking.Upon removal from the package and some initial inspection, I tried to rotate the belt clip and within the first few seconds it broke. Looking at the picture, the plastic tension pieces that hold the swivel together definitely need to be beefed up some. I never had a chance to fit it to the device or on my belt. I did not notice any damage to the packaging as you can see above so it looks like to me there could be some more reinforcement place in this area in the future.

Wrapping up, I really liked some things with the Trident Kraken AMS case for the iPhone 4/4S and there are some other things that I would like to see changed. The quality is evident in the two cases I reviewed for Trident but I think from a design standpoint, I like the outer silicone sleeve a little better for ease of installation. Also the belt clip, is needing some more material in the swivel area to avoid the unfortunate event that happened to me. There are multiple colors to choose from and pricing on the Trident website is $49.95, however, searching Amazon turned up some much better pricing that put the Kraken at a market price that I thought was fair. The cheapest I saw it was $35 brand new at the time of this review.

It drives me nuts that companies put out PR announcing new products and don’t include photos with them. What is the point of that? Then when I go to look on their website the products aren’t even there yet to get photos of them?! Mobility Digest Review: Trident Kraken Series Case for iPad 2

The Apple iPad 2 reigns supreme currently in the tablet market and your choices to protect your investment can become quite a task to narrow down. From the Apple Smart Cover, Gelskins , leather portfolios, and many more. so many choices. For me, I tend to look past flashy and stylish, I look for quality and maximum protection. When you look for maximum protection for your device, OtterBox is the first name that comes to mind. Like OtterBox, the Trident Kraken cases also employs an impact resistant polycarbonate skeleton and a shock absorbing silicone sleeve. So how will the Trident Kraken Case fair in the maximum protection category for iPad 2 cases? Keep reading because I got your answers in our Mobility Digest Review of the Trident Kraken Series Case for the iPad 2.

I always kick off my reviews with what you get in the box and even though cases seldom have more than one component, the Kraken Case actually has three. So inside a nicely clamshell packaged you get a three components that make up your Trident Kraken Series Case for the iPad 2 and a really small trifold set of instructions.

As you can see in the picture above, the design is that of a three piece hard shell case. But unlike other cases in this category that employ a two piece polycarbonate inner skeleton and a silicone outer sleeve, Trident does things a little differently by reversing that order and using a very thick silicone sleeve but using it on the inside of the two part polycarbonate shell.

Trident’s Kraken inner sleeve is massively thick compared to the silicone outer sleeves employed by other cases manufacturers. Simply install your iPad 2 into the Kraken and make sure that the thick silicone sleeve wraps around the iPad 2. The fit was perfect and all the cut outs matched up perfectly. I think this is a very clever design and the silicone sleeve definitely seems like it would take a lot of the shock out of an impact and not pass it through to your device.

The front part of the outer polycarbonate shell supplies yet again another pleasant surprise. Most other hard shell case manufacturers do not include a built in screen protector with their cases. Instead, the supply a screen cover that you have to install separately. Honestly, that process is not too difficult, but it is an extra process not needed when you buy a Trident Kraken Series Case for the iPad 2. The built in screen protector is touch and when installed, has a great feel to it as well functionality. Trident calls the built in screen protector a bubble free and indeed there was no air between the screen protector and the iPad 2. The screen protector fits flat.

The rear outer shell of the Trident Kraken gets a little weird for me. Still very well engineered and fit perfectly to the front cover and over the silicone sleeve. However, it’s the two rather large clips on the top of the Kraken case that seem a little excessive and spoil the aesthetics of the case. In fact, the case is so well made and mates the two outer shell components together that really the clips aren’t necessary. I tested it out without clipping them and the case held together perfectly. Where I always feel more is better, in the case I think Trident could lose the clips.

Now I need to go on record and say that I am not a huge fan of the blue demo unit Trident supplied me with but what I am a fan of is the quality of construction and components that Trident selected for the Kraken Series Case for the iPad 2. The Kraken fit perfectly and every cutout matched up perfectly as well as all the flaps fit flush in their openings. There are a few things I would have done differently and one is those unsightly large top clips. Even though the Kraken incorporated a nice built in screen protector, one thing missing is a stand and front cover. Being able to watch media content on a desktop will require an aftermarket stand. Also, traveling with the Kraken case will be a concern because the screen is exposed to impacts where most hard shell cases come with a cover for the screen. The Trident Kraken Series Case for the iPad 2 comes in multiple colors to choose from and pricing ranges from $35 to $45 dollars on several online retailers like Amazon.

I suggest you guys and gals get used to me as you’re going to be seeing a lot of me as it’s CES week and my inbox is just overflowing with stuffs all about it. M-Edge Debuts More Accessories at 2012 CES

Reminder to self, remember to use the CES tag for all of these posts. iPad Survives 100,000+ Foot Fall From Space

I just got a new keyboard and while I like getting cool things for review, getting a new keyboard is one of those things that I hate. I’ve been using the same one for years, and moving to his one is going to take a lot to get accustomed to. Anyway, here’s a real extreme case, the Extreme Edge case from G-Form protected an iPad that fell 100,000 feet. Now that’s one durable and protective case surely. If I had an iPad mine would be in that case you can bet.
