This is my first real experience with Android and I am very excited to see what all the hype is about first hand. I am a huge fan of my HD2 and I know I won’t be let down from a hardware standpoint. But there are a lot of questions to be answered for me, so let’s have a look at my video unboxing and first impression of the Motorola Droid X on the Verizon Network:

Be sure to stay tuned for my complete review of the Droid X as I take a deeper dive into what really makes this thing tick!!!

I absolutely guarantee that after you watch the following Mobility Digest Review: AT&T Samsung Captivate Insane Unboxing, you will have to innovate a new thought provoking comment to Doug Simmons Original unboxing video. Beyond Doug’s research and development of the Nexus One as a head cam in a hostile 5th floor New York Fire Escape, the what appears to be the underlying reason for shooting this video in the first place was to do a Video unboxing of the AT&T Samsung Captivate which is a variant of the Galaxy S device we have heard so much about. Not to be out done, the same Galaxy S can be found underneath the hood of the T-Mobile Vibrant. Let me throw you a little specification goodness to prime you up for the video!:

I hope you enjoyed the video as much as I did and I dare to say stay tuned for more on the AT&T Samsung Captivate as Doug promised a review and more videos. Be sure to drop a comment to help motivate Doug to continue his Nexus One Head Cam Series (of course all in 720HD!)

What dedication your staff is willing to go, to achieve the ultimate pictures!!!!! Not only is Doug willing to brave the jungle of New York, but while hanging from a thread, 60' in the air, ascend into the outer canopy of the cities massive structures. All this in the pursuit of that perfect shot, while carrying his personal bathmat no less.
Will we be seeing Doug published in The National Geographic next???

The Vibrant which also has the Super AMOLED 4 inch screen, 1 GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, and 16 GB Built-in Memory, will also come pre loaded with Avatar, the motion picture. Pretty cool indeed.

Since we scour the internet daily to bring you the very best in Mobility news and reviews I thought I would start out today by bring you our friends at Wirefly.com’s “Schmackdown” between the brand new iPhone 4 and the Spring HTC EVO 4G. Both devices are red hot right now and considered to be the best of the best in Smart Phones. The iPhone of course is incredibly well known and the newly released iPhone 4 sporting a 3.5” screen where the EVO sports the huge 4.3” inch screen. The iPhone 4, which is the pride and joy of AT&T is running a brand new IOS4 operating system, the EVO is running Android with HTC Sense user interface that we all know very well by now. So if you are heading out to buy the best that the Mobility World has to offer and have not made up your mind yet, check out this video by Wirefly.com and see which parking lot you pull into, AT&T or Sprint.

It's called an iPhone 4, not iPhone 4G (it does not have a 4G chipset).

@sm0k3ydaband1t: I was willing to give Sprint a try, but everyone was out of stock the day I went to purchase it. I couldn't even order it on their website. I finally ordered it on Amazon with a two-week wait, but after two weeks, they pushed it out another month. Canceled that order and am trying to decide if it's worth paying the $299 price tag up front and wait for the $100 mail-in rebate. After all the sour grapes, I'm not feeling the love. Maybe I should go for the Incredible on Verizon....

Wirefly must have had a bunch of spare time yesterday because they are just busting out the Droid Incredible videos! This time they are comparing the Droid Incredible against the iPhone 3Gs Internet Browsing capabilities. The iPhone has always received high praise for their capacitive pinch to zoom technology and now they are not the only pinching going on! HTC is now shipping their high end devices loaded with a capacitive touch screen that also has multi-touch that allows us all that pinching goodness. So check out the video:

Head on over to Wirefly for more on the comparison or to purchase your own Verizon HTC Droid Incredible as it will be released today (April 29th).

If only my T-Mobile HTC HD2 had AT&T 3G bands I would be dancing like this too! Check it:

Having absolutely no dancing ability what so ever, I cannot begin to understand the complexity in choreographing something like this would take. I was waiting the whole video for my boy with 10 inch afro to kick it Robert Muraine style but we were left hangin.

Anyway, here is a little YouTube love to lead you into your weekend courtesy of T-Mobile and their advertising campaign “Life Is For Sharing”.

It has been a painful first couple of days trying to get this video posted and get my T-Mobile HTC HD2 SIM Unlocked, but I have managed to quick out our First Impression Video Unboxing Video for you guys. I am not even going to lie, it is more amazing in person than the 5000 videos you have seen on it already. I live in a small town with only a 10×20 T-Mobile Hut to go to, but I was able to score a device the first day. I have been blown away by the sheer size and build quality of the device, and it’s amazing screen. I thought I would miss my Touch Pro 2 slide out keyboard, but the size of the HD2 screen gives even the fattest fingers ample room to type. And with SWYPE, it just gets better from there! This may sound silly, but I am totally digging being able to pinch to zoom! It is a little thing that I personally would never call a Windows Mobile Device a deal breaker by not having, but it is great to have something the iPhone guys have had for a while now with their Capacitive Multi-Touch Screen. And the HD2 screen that is 4.3 inch, 480×800 WVGA is nothing short of spectacular. I will get into all this and more in my upcoming review as well as some gripes, but for now, check out my First Impress Video Unboxing on the T-Mobile HTC HD2.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Because they are Wirefly, they get all the cool devices early and can get these videos cranked out before their official release! (insert envious cursing here) In any case, they did a cool comparison video between the Google Nexus One and the T-Mobile HTC HD2. It is clear the HD2 is huge compared to an already large device with a 3.7 inch screen, the Google Nexus One. The video has a good physical comparison between the two as well as a nice walk through HTC Sense and the Google Android 2.1 User Interface. So which one will or would you choose?
Check out the key differences after the break or head on over to Wirefly

Key Differences

Price: While not available from Wirefly at this time, the Nexus One is available on contract directly from Google for $179. The T-Mobile HD2 will be available from Wirefly at a significantly discounted price.

Operating System: The T-Mobile HTC HD2 is powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 with HTC’s attractive Sense user interface built on top, while the Nexus One is an Android-powered device and uses the standard Android user interface. The many differences between the two operating systems and user interfaces are beyond the scope of this comparison, but both devices are powerful solutions for both work and play.

Power: The HTC Nexus One and HTC HD2 are both equipped with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and offer the best performance currently available in a mobile device. The HTC HD2, however, has slightly more RAM at 576MB while the Nexus One has 512MB of RAM.

Display: The Nexus One has a large and high resolution display (3.7-in., WVGA 800×480pixels), but when compared to other cell phones on the marker, the HTC HD2 has a huge and vibrant 4.3-inch screen (480×800 pixels).

Storage Space: Right out of the box, the HD2 has 16GB (upgradeable to 32GB) of on-board storage space for music, video and more thanks to a pre-installed microSD card. The Nexus One has only a 4GB microSD card pre-installed (also upgradeable to 32GB).

Size & Weight: Both the Nexus One and HTC HD2 are impressively slim devices, but because of its substantially larger screen, the HD2 is a wider and taller device. The size difference, though, is not proportional to the difference in screen size between the two devices, and arguably lets the HD2 boast the best of both worlds.

as difficult as it is, i am going to have to wait on this one. the HD2 is an AMAZING device, minus the fact that it's tmo 3g. ATT shouldve snatched this up such a long time ago. they're stupid for not. and the nexus one = dreamy, but i'm just going to wait for the desire when it comes out this summer. *SIGH* stupid att

seriously considering the HD2 with my AT&T SIM card and sacrificing 3G, since I don't have 3G in my area anyways. it's cheaper, better, and *hopefully* our friends at XDA will make XDAndroid available for the HD2 soon.... then I can have the best of both worlds! (minus 3G of course) :D

If you're torn between Sense versus Google's interface and inclined to wait for the Desire for that purpose, given that you'll probably be flashing anyway, you can slap on a Desire rom to the Nexus One. As for performance, oh man, this thing flies. A couple extra megs of ram once you're beyond 512 buys you more bragging rights than it does performance but if you're going to be running clunky WinMo, hey, you better get all the ram you can find.

Regarding the size and weights of the respective devices versus their screen size, in addition to being an ounce heavier, the HD2 has a 1230mAh battery versus the Nexus One's 1400mAh and yet it's only half a millimeter thinner. People burn the most juice with their screen from anything else, typically, and which excessively large screen do you think will chew up more power (on a weaker battery no less)? Slightly larger backlit screen for the HD2, okay, but higher dpi, less drain, same res, better operating system, better market, better love from developers and from the much better company backing it versus one that is tailspinning into obscurity with this crap operating system that's about to be phased out while Google is exploding north, Nexus One ftw.

Also, Google doesn't condone censorship. Worth noting.

Enjoy your registry editing and larger complimentary chip. Enjoy the compliment because you won't be getting any more storage chip compliments of any kind from Microsoft from what I've read on this site.

ahhh doug, you see, i already knew 99% of what you just told me, although i thoroughly enjoyed reading it again :p.

the deciding factor comes from the fact that my practically non-existent income can really only afford phones from a warranty exchange or a 2 year contract (and an hour on the phone yelling at att getting them to lower the price of the phone even further - i got my fuze for $150 on an upgrade).

but once again, i enjoyed reading your post about how awesome android is.

you read about the Evo 4g? it's a BEAST. i have a feeling battery-life might not be where it should though...

This time we got Wirefly getting their hands on the T-Mobile HTC HD2 and this is the quote I got from them:

‘”This has to be the best user experience of any phone on the market.
I’m an iPhone geek, and I’d trade my iPhone in for this puppy in a heartbeat.
Will I switch to T-Mobile? That’s the question I haven’t answered yet.”

I thought paying for a contract free T-Mobile HTC HD2 was going to be the hardest part about getting the HD2, now it appears the waiting will be worse!
