Cellular South is very popular down here in the South East part of the United States because they do have a quality network that stretches farther out into rural areas (the sticks) than AT&T. Cellular South also has a much better deal on their plans than AT&T which also is very appealing in a area without much manufacturing or blue collar workers that are on a budget but want more out of their mobility experience. If you want to get more out of your Android Device from Cellular South to start the year off then they got you covered with a few apps that will help you out in 2011. Whether it is quitting smoking, getting in better shape (I need this), or getting more organized (I REALLY need this) then check out the free apps on Cellular South for Android and start the year off right. Oh, and go pick up the HTC Desire, very solid device that I had an opportunity to test out. Cellular South also has the Galaxy S Samsung device if that is more to your liking. We just got to get Cellular South to update something to Froyo, Android 2.2 for us soon!

Cellular South Offers the Best Android Apps to Help Consumers Reach Their New Year’s Resolution Goals

Forget the "Life Coach." Wireless Users are Ringing in the New Year by Using the Best Apps to Help Them Achieve New Year’s Resolution Success

RIDGELAND, Miss., Jan. 7, 2011– Whether it’s quitting smoking, getting in shape, finding a job or just reaching out to long lost friends, New Year’s resolutions haven’t changed much over the years, but the way people are accomplishing them certainly has changed.  With the availability of a plethora of wireless apps today, consumers are looking to their smartphones to stay on track and accomplish their goals for 2011.

Cellular South, the largest privately owned wireless carrier in the U.S., is a leader in Android-powered devices and offers access to the best apps that will not only kick-start New Year’s resolutions, but will help wireless users stay on track for the entire year.   With its industry-leading Discover Apps app, Cellular South staff have combed through thousands of apps offered on the Android Market and have identified the best apps to help consumers keep their New Year’s resolutions – no matter what they happen to be.

Cellular South Discover Apps Top New Year’s Resolution Apps:

Mint (personal finance) – An easy way to manage money on the go, this app lets users see all their accounts in one place, check budgets and see where they spend – all for free.

  • QuitNow! (quit smoking) – This is the must-have Android app for anyone trying to quit smoking.  The app monitors and reports on user’s progress, helps fight cravings with encouragement and records the time and money saved from quitting.  It also showcases the many health improvements a user will see over time.
  • BuddyRunner (fitness training) – Buddy Runner provides the capabilities of an expensive GPS enabled personal trainer on an Android phone.  It allows users to monitor each run by recording their distance, pace, time, elevation, route and more.
  • Springpad (organization) – Users can save the things they want to remember with this app, including notes, tasks, lists, wines and recipes. Users can scan barcodes, take photos, and search nearby places. The app automatically organizes and enhances what users save with useful links and relevant news and offers and then syncs with springpadit.com for universal access.

"No matter what the goal may be for 2011, Cellular South has the most advanced Android-powered smartphones that provide access to the best Android apps – helping users keep their New Year’s resolutions on track," said Jim Richmond, director of corporate communications for Cellular South.  "Plus, with Cellular South’s Discover Apps app, we’ve done all the work for customers by finding the best apps available.  All our customers have to do is download our recommended apps to their device, saving them time so they can focus on what’s important – achieving success."

Unlike other smartphone app experiences that provide access to thousands of apps, but leave customers overwhelmed and unsure of the best ones for them, Cellular South’s Discover Apps app helps consumers search, find and use the most relevant apps that best fit their lives.  By combing through the growing list of over 100,000 apps on the Android Market on a regular basis, Discover Apps app chooses the very best, most useful, and fun Android apps available today.  The recommended apps help smartphone users get the most out of their wireless device – creating the optimum app experience not available with any other wireless provider.

"Consumer Reports and Time Magazine can now be added to the growing list of experts, analysts and industry leaders rating the Samsung Galaxy S as the best smartphone available today.  At Cellular South, we’ve known about the device’s superiority for some time and we’re excited it’s getting noticed by wireless users and industry insiders alike," Richmond said.  "With its Super AMOLED touchscreen technology with SWYPE, super fast processor, integrated social networking and sleek design, the Samsung Galaxy S offers one of the best Android device and app experiences available today."

Best Plans for Smartphones

While AT&T and Verizon’s unlimited plans continue to confuse consumers with data limitations and additional charges, Cellular South understands that talk isn’t enough for most consumers today.  They want to talk, text, e-mail and use the mobile web at an affordable, flat-rated, simple price.  Many also want plans that make smartphones accessible to everyone in the household. That’s why, over a year ago, Cellular South created the Smartphone Unlimited Plan for individuals and families.

Cellular South’s Smartphone Unlimited Plan is the industry’s most robust and affordable smartphone plan. This plan includes unlimited talk, text, web, and e-mail for just $79.99, compared to $119 per month for the same services from AT&T or Verizon.  The plan from Cellular South also includes a second line, including all of the same unlimited services, for just $39.99.  Customers can get two Smartphone Unlimited Plans for the price of only one from AT&T or Verizon with equivalent unlimited services.

"For years we’ve been pricing our wireless plans and services in a way that wireless users don’t have to manage minutes or usage. Wireless users should not have to think before they press send or worry about surprise bills that may come after," Richmond said. "Cellular South customers don’t have to worry about calling circles, rollover minutes, roaming networks, days of the week or the time of day.  All our customers need to think about is who they want to connect to next."

Putting the "Work" Back Into Network

Cellular South knows that a smartphone is only as good as the network that supports it and Cellular South has that covered as well.  In fact, the company has one of the most advanced and reliable high-speed wireless networks in the nation and recently announced plans for deploying a fourth generation (4G) mobile broadband network using Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology.

  3. Cellular South is just going to have to get way more current with their device offering. not having a Froyo Android Version hurts I think.

I am glad that they (Cellular South) is getting more aggressive and pushing their product. They have a WAY better deal than any of the other major carriers and their service is a lot better, but at this point, it could not be worse.

I live in Meridian, we need to have a Mississippi Mobility Meeting some time! (and west Alabama)
