Now What? Is iOS 7 causing Motion Sickness after using their iPads and iPhones with iOS 7?

Apple launched iOS 7 for general users only last week, and few users complained already about the lack of 3D or now the “Flat 3D” in the OS UI. Now some of the users are complaining they are facing severe headache, nausea similar to motion sickness on the Apple forums. The Zooming and Parallax Animations that have been adopted to open and close the app are the culprits. One user complained that it is similar to motion sickness one would get while reading a book in a moving car. The Verge reports ‘Apple forum user Ensorceled writes. “It’s exactly how I used to get car sick if I tried to read in the car.” Other forum users are reporting feelings of illness, eye pain, and dizziness as well.’

One user named “knphoto10” complained that “I thought I was going crazy today after I updated my phone and I noticed I was feeling queasy every time I used it. Now I see I am not alone! I just used my phone for about 20 minutes and now I feel like I’m going to vomit. There has to be a way to turn this off!”

Another user “nybe” wrote “I’m now going on day 3 of total nausea. At first I didn’t want to believe it’s because of iOS 7, but I can’t stand even looking at non animation areas for more than a few minutes even typing this.”

I wonder why these haven’t come across when it was released to developers in beta stage a while back. Apple and Microsoft spend a lot on User Experiences research. I hope it is just an isolated issue, and Apple doesn’t have to worry about it. I like those features actually in the new User Experience of iOS7.

Of course you could reduce or minimize the animation effects via settings. Just configure with “Settings –> General –> Accessibility –> Reduce Motion”

Are any of our iOS users experiencing this? AFAIK, I am not. Hey Walter, are you experiencing similar issue?
