Sammy gets tactile with TecTiles™

Samsung has introduced TecTiles™, programable NFC (near field communication) tags that, which touched by a (Android) device with NFC hardware built in to it, and Samsung’s free app installed, will trigger an “event.”

The Tiles themselves sell for $14.99 for 5, and can be found on Samsung’s site, and (supposedly) inside carrier retail stores.  You program them with the Samsung TecTiles app (found in the Google Play store) and them stick them where you may need them: by your bed to set your alarm, in your car to send a text to your family saying you’re leaving work, or on a business card with your contact card information.  Their programming can be re-written or you can lock the TecTile so it cannot be re-written.  They can’t be placed near, metal, though, so you can’t leave a “Remember your diet” message on your refrigerator.
