The Internets First Web Address Is Live Again

The European Organization for Nuclear Research, you know those folks with all the cool toys like  particle accelerators and detectors, hold the distinction of having the first web address on the internet. Also known as CERN, they made the first website live in 1991 but it wasn’t until April 30th 1993 that the “www” technology was made widely available for royalty-free. CERN has located a copy of the website from 1992 and has put it back up using the original web address:

http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html

It is a pretty simple page (Simmons would be proud) with some basic text and links to various information.

Read here for more on the webs first URL.
