RetroUI Pro available tomorrow–Windows 8 gets more usable
|You likely know of RetroUI by now as a way to get the feel of Windows 7 back in Windows 8. Well a Pro version is on the horizon (for release tomorrow) and it really ups the ante. From what’ they’ve shown so far, they’ve made the star menu more usable. A real standout feature though is the ability to keep your taskbar in Metro. You can also boot right into Desktop. And finally in Metro you get a close button in apps and you can resize apps so they are no longer always full screen and you can live in a bit more of a traditional world (which makes sense if you’re a desktop user since you don’t lose everything when an app goes full screen). Just check out this preview video for a look at what it does:
We’ll tell you when it hits and give you complete details.
Not my cup of tea. Seems like a mish mash of redundant features and adds contrary elements to the UI aesthetic. But, I’m certain some people will find this useful.
