Skyfire Is Promoting Live Streaming With Ustream

If you are looking for the richest Internet Experience form your Windows Mobile Device, or Symbian S60 Device, there is currently only one clear choice, Skyfire. I have been a huge fan of Skyfire from the beginning and have enjoyed watching the fierce competition between Skyfire, Opera Mobile, IRIS, and up and coming Fennec/Firefox from Mozilla.

Skyfire has announced today that they will increase their  commitment to Feature Rich Mobile Internet Browsing by getting the endorsement from Ustream and prominently placing links on your bookmarks tab to 1000’s of live video streaming from Fox, CNET, Air America and many others. Here’s a little more:

  • Ustream will endorse Skyfire as the best way to watch Ustream on a Windows Mobile or Symbian S60 device
  • Skyfire will promote Ustream with prime placement as a featured bookmark
  • The bigger story is that as mobile technology advances, we will see a slow death of these "one off" applications for separate mobile platforms. One Web, one platform for all desktops, all mobile devices.

You can read the entire press release by jumping after the break. And on the off chance you don’t have Skyfire for your prized mobile device, you can click the link below and be magically whisked away to the Skyfire Realm. 🙂 (too much coffee today)

Skyfire and Ustream Announce Partnership to Bring Live Video to Windows Mobile and Symbian Phones

2009 is the year live video and flash content will explode on mobile browsers

(MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA) March 5, 2009 – Today Skyfire, the makers of the PC-like browser for mobile devices, and Ustream.TV announced a partnership that will deliver live video to consumers accessing content from their mobile phones. The partnership, which provides Ustream with prominent placement among Skyfire’s bookmarks will allow users to watch television on their phones from thousands of live streams including those from Fox, CNET and Air America.

Content is King
Skyfire’s newest 0.9 version released this February, was the first mobile browser to integrate real-time web activity aggregating customized feeds from news, media, Facebook and Twitter. Skyfire continues to deliver the PC web to mobile phones by partnering with web companies and creating a host of media-rich links available in bookmarks.  As the only mobile browser supporting Flash 10 and Silverlight, Skyfire plays any video. The partnership with Ustream underscores its unique ability to deliver live television, videos and radio shows on the phone.

“Live video from partners like Ustream fit perfectly into our plan to bring the best of the full web to the mobile generation,” said Tracy DeMiroz, Skyfire VP Marketing. "Without any development required to have a mobile presence, Ustream immediately gives their users access to all the content broadcast from their website. We know Skyfire users consume a lot of media during their day. In fact, on inauguration day a vast majority of our users were watching Obama on Ustream. That’s why we’re excited to include Ustream in the Skyfire bookmarks.  In just one click, our users will be watching live television."

Ustream empowers anyone with a camera and an Internet connection to quickly and easily broadcast to a global audience of unlimited size.

“We are constantly pursuing ways for our users to access interesting content or find their audience,” said Brad Hunstable, founder and president of Ustream. “We are excited about our partnership with Skyfire to bring our streams to mobile browsers.”

Skyfire users can find the Ustream link in their bookmarks.  It has top billing in the video category. The Skyfire 0.9 Beta is available for free at get.skyfire.com.
