One of my favorite developers, GlowPuff (Zombie Circus, Gridrunner Girl, Impossible Mountain and Pumpkin Smash to name a few) just dropped their latest title – Pirate’s Plunder. And this one is a bit outside of the scope of their other games, which tend to have a set type of gameplay and expand on it throughout the levels. Pirate’s Plunder, on the other hand, has a central theme but is more set up like mini-games within the central theme. You start off trying to get ships into ports which is similar in style to Flight Control (except it’s boats, not airplanes). You’re trying to bring gold in to port but the games has barely begun. Boats come in and you can engage them in a battle. In one minigame you need to keep the boat in your sites using the accelerometer to shoot canons at it before time comes out. In another game you are facing off with another boat and use an onscreen dpad to avoid the other boat and trade cannon fire to try to kill before you’re killed. And I’ve barely touched the surface of this game after a half hour of game play.
So let’s move to the official description:
Become a pirate captain in search of the Pirate’s Plunder – a legendary box containing the location of the final resting place of the famed pirate known as The Howl Of The Wolf! Engage your enemies in classic path drawing, ship parking gameplay. Pursue the other pirate captains in action packed ragdoll physics boss battles. Take a break from the action on the lawless island of Tortuga where you can gamble your gold at the pirate slot machine. Anger the pirates and face off with them in a cannonball tossing minigame. X marks the spot when you discover treasure maps and lose yourself in randomly generated mazes.
