Cobra iRadar – iPhone enhanced radar detector
I just purchased this device today ($130) and will be reviewing it over the next few days and weeks. I have a 170 mile round trip each day, and I felt that it was time to invest in a radar detector. Cobra’s iRadar device connects via Bluetooth and provides you with some very interesting features. Redlight cameras, speed traps, speed cameras, and other ‘traps’ are announced from the ever evolving database that Cobra maintains. You can also create your own spots via ‘marking’. The device also allows you to set a speed alarm that will sound when you go over that speed. Visual cues and audible alerts are very clear and concise. I’m looking forward to this review since this is a device I plan on using every day, from now on.

is gps built into the radar unit or does it use the iphone gps? i’m curious as to how it’ll play out for battery life if it uses the iphone gps and bluetooth both
The gps runs on the phone. The iRadar comes with a 12volt charger which also has a USB port for the iPhone charger cable, so no worries.
