streakteardown1 Yeah, you guessed it. The folks over at ifixit.com are at it again and this time they are tearing down a device that is on my must have list, the Dell Streak. The Dell Streak is a larger 5 inch Corning Gorilla Glass device packed with a Qualcomm 1 GHz Snapdragon Processor for the horsepower this multimedia phone tablet needs. I am still not on board with the fact that this device is a tablet first and a phone second. To me the Dell Streak is large, but still capable of being your daily driver phone. And just for the folks that have missed the only complaint about the Dell Streak I have is that it comes with Android 1.6 (Donut). Dell has promised the Froyo 2.2 update coming later this year, but me thinks it will be sooner than later.

All that aside, thanks to ifixit.com we can now have a first hand look at what makes the Streak tick:

  1. Now if they would only appear in stores in the US. I’ve been to my local AT&T store twice now, and they have no idea when they’ll actually get the Streak in stock. They’re not on the AT&T website either, so I’m wondering how Dell or AT&T expect to sell many of these. I mean, are they waiting for Froyo to really push these in the US?

Has anyone seen a Streak in a store in the US, or is Dell the only place they’re available?
