It seems like voice controls are already preparing to take over for finger controls and here’s another example. ChaCha is a free service that lets you ask a question and get an answer by text. It’s like Google SMS but you can ask the question without any typing. All you need to do is call 1-800-2-chacha (1-800-224-2242) and ask any question you want and then you will receive a text message with your question, then a text message with an advertisement followed by a text message with the answer (three texts in total). Since the actual answers are provided by real people (not a computer system) the results tend to be very accurate and it takes about a minute. It’s a great way to get a prompt answer to just about anything. You can even ask for sports scores, stock results and the local weather. The service is free but as you can tell, if you don’t have an unlimited text plan be careful because at three texts per question it really adds up.

There’s no registration required so you can start by just calling the number or if you’re really into texting you can text your question to 242242. All of the major US carriers are included and you don’t even need a smart phone for this to work. The only real cap is 4 questions every seven days but this appears to be a soft cap. So go ahead and give it a try and if you like it, you may want to give it a coveted speed dial slot:)
