International Snooker and Doodle Pool are both distributed by Big Head Games, hit the Marketplace within a day of each other, are available on other platforms and if you hadn’t noticed have a similar game, so let’s talk about them together since they’re both pretty nice.
I really wish I read the rules of Snooker (haven’t played in years) but in terms of ease of use and aesthetics – spot on. here’s their description:

Compelling game play and rich 3d visuals make this the best cue based game on the app store.

Doodle Pool has a neat control where you put your finger on the screen and rotate/drag to control the shot and you can do this anywhere on the screen. it works well and the ‘doodle’ graphics are fitting (iTunes here and Android here).
Calling all casual gamers! Doodle Pool brings the popular billiards game to the fun-loving casual play generation!
Created by the makers of the critically acclaimed International Snooker, Doodle Pool features:
* US 8 Ball Rules
* US 9 Ball Rules
* UK 8 Ball Rules
* 1 or 2 Player
* Time Attack mode (fastest to clear the table)
* Unique shooting mechanic
* Casual game play mechanics
* Lots of fun!
*** IMPORTANT CONTROL INFORMATION! ***
To play a shot, you can touch *ANYWHERE* on the screen. Then drag your finger back to set the power and aim, like a rubber band. *You do NOT have to start at the cue ball* If you find your ball too near a cushion, try starting your drag further away. You can cancel a shot at any time by returning your finger to the start point.
Doodle Pool is $1.29 with a free trial.
So both are ports from other platforms where they enjoy healthy positive reviews and in my brief testing with them, they’re both pretty fun. It’s more a question of what game you prefer and the controls are slightly different but both work well.
