Motorola Shines at CES with “Best of Show” for the XOOM

If you are Motorola then you are smiling as a result of a great effort put on at the CES Show in Las Vegas. Motorola, who had a great year with Verizon manufacturing their very popular “Droid” Series of Android devices followed-up with not one, but two sequels to the Droid with the Droid X (our favorite) and the Droid 2 (slide out keyboard device) So how do you follow up a great year with the Droid Series? You take yourself to the CES Show the first week of 2011 and drop the XOOM and the ATRIX! Motorola took home honors for:

  • "Best of CES" award for its Motorola XOOM™
  • "Best Smartphone" for the Motorola ATRIX™
  • "Best Tablet" for the Motorola XOOM™

We were pretty wowed by the Motorola XOOM as well with it’s 10 inch screen, Honeycomb Android 3.0 OS, Dual Core Processor, and yes, 4G blazing speeds. Congrats to Motorola for a job well done and we will be looking forward to checking out the XOOM!

AS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2011  — Motorola Mobility, Inc. (NYSE: MMI), today announced it won the "Best of CES" award for its Motorola XOOM™ – the first device on Google’s new Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system designed from the ground up for tablets. In addition to "Best of CES" award, Motorola received two other award honors – "Best Smartphone" for the Motorola ATRIX™ and "Best Tablet" for the Motorola XOOM™. Produced and judged by editors from CNET (www.cnet.com), the winners of the "Best of CES" awards were announced Saturday, January 8, at 2011 CES in Las Vegas.

According to CNET, "Within the tablet category, the Motorola XOOM rose to the top by promising what we felt was the most anticipated mobile OS (Android Honeycomb), on impressively spec’d hardware (dual-core, 4G-compatible, HDMI out, front- and back-facing cameras), in a 10-inch format."

Selected by CNET’s unbiased expert editors, winners are recognized as being the most buzz-worthy, category-defining, innovative, and promising products at the show.  CNET editors scoured the CES show floor for products to consider for the prestigious award.  In addition there were awards given for the Best in Show product and People’s Voice, given by the thousands of online viewers who cast their vote.
