Samsung Mobile and Sprint Attempt to Break Guinness World Records® Mark to Collect the Most Mobile Phones for Recycling at the Samsung Mobile 500

–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) and Sprint

WHAT:

Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) and Sprint (NYSE: S) collaborate to break the Guinness World Records® mark to collect the largest donation of mobile phones in one location April 15-18 at the Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, TX. The joint effort is part of Samsung Mobile’s March to a Million program to collect and recycle one million mobile phones by the end of the year and Sprint’s Recycle for Victory recycling program. Samsung Mobile accepts ALL types of mobile phones to be recycled.

Recycle for Victory reduces the number of used wireless devices that end up in landfills by accepting wireless phones, batteries and accessories, and data cards regardless of make, model, carrier or condition for reuse and recycling. Sprint donates the net proceeds to Victory Junction – a NASCAR-themed, sleep-away camping experience that enriches the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by allowing them to perform activities they would otherwise not be able to do.

Every NASCAR fan that donates an old mobile phone during the Samsung Mobile 500 race weekend will receive a limited edition 3D Samsung Mobile 500 pin, and, if donated before Sunday, be entered to win the following incredible prizes*:

• Be the Honorary Grand Marshall and Announce “Gentleman Start Your Engines”

• Ride in the official TMS Samsung Mobile 500 Pace Car

• Get exclusive view of 2010 Samsung Mobile 500 winner with a visit to Victory Lane

Winners will be announced live on Sunday, April 18 at the Speed Channel Stage at Gate 3 prior to the start of the Samsung Mobile 500. NASCAR fans that bring more than one mobile phone to be recycled can increase their odds of winning one of these extraordinary prizes. NASCAR fans who don’t have a mobile phone to recycle can spin-to-win fun prizes and receive a pre-paid postage mobile phone recycling envelope to mail-in old mobile phones to be recycled.
