AT&T Now Offering FamilyMap
|Earlier today I wrote an article about StaySafe which is an application (currently) for the iPhone and Android Device Platforms that allows you real time to to get registered Sex Offender Information. Click Here to check it out. Now AT&T is offering yet another great way to make sure your kids and family are safe. It’s called FamilyMap:
AT&T FamilyMap provides peace of mind by being able to conveniently locate a family member from your wireless phone or PC and know that your family’s information is secure and private.
With FamilyMap, you can locate up to 5 family members using any AT&T phone. However, if you are tracking a GPS enabled device, it will obviously triangulate their whereabouts a lot better than just using the cell phone towers. The first time you use FamilyMap, a text message will be sent to the phone you are trying to get location information about. After that initial text message, all attempts to locate that users whereabouts will go undetected. Yep, they will never know you are tracking them. Another great use for FamilyMap is the ability to locate your phone if it is ever lost or stolen. The phone must be turned on and in an AT&T coverage area to work.
I know a lot of teenagers are probably reading this and cussing AT&T, but as a parent today, we all must do what we can to protect our children.
Plans run $9.99 for up to two phones, and $14.99 for up to five phones. There is a 30 day free trial period to make sure you are comfortable with the service.
