Hack Enables Mango Now For Windows Phones [April Fool’s Day In Australia Already]
|Yes, that’s not a typo. That’s Mango, not NoDo we’re speaking of. The guys from Chevron have been playing around with Microsoft’s servers and they have found a new build (7510) that can be downloaded. They note that IE9 doesn’t work but SkyDrive and multitasking are flawless. They also say you can revert back to NoDo if this is too unstable. Here are the directions as they provided them:
- Edit your HOSTS file under “
%WinDir%\System32\Drivers\ETC\hosts
“ - Add an entry “
updateservices.windowsphone-int.com updateservices.windowsphone.com
“ - Download USAIP and connect to any US-based VPN (ex. USAIP L2TP California)
- Use username “demo” and password “demo”
- Connect your Windows Phone 7 to the PC and start Zune
- Disable WiFi on the phone
- Open “phone” settings on the phone
- Manually search for an update within Zune
- After a few seconds (~15 seconds) disable data connection on the phone
- Enjoy the sweet juicy fruits of your labour
These guys are seriously seriously on top of their game. Anyway, get it while it’s hot and before MS pulls it.
Oh and if you test it, you can tell us if this is an April Fools’ joke 😉
Update: yup, in Australia it’s already April 1…damn thme for being ahead of us and toying with our emotions:) It was exciting for four solid minutes though;)

@Brianna: I have Speckie in my office and I have iespell on this PC…damnit iespell has taken over. it’s disabled but still running and Speckie is enabled but not running…I think the solution is hitting the computer a few times to teach it a lesson;)
