HP Ends WebOS Devices–No More TouchPads or webOS Phones
We’ve long surmised that WebOS’s days were limited but little did we realize how limited they were. From the press release:
HP reported that it plans to announce that it will discontinue operations for webOS devices, specifically the TouchPad and webOS phones. HP will continue to explore options to optimize the value of webOS software going forward.
This is part of a larger revamping of HP but the end result is that webOS appears to be moving towards possibly an open source model. Who knows if it goes like Android (free/open) or Windows Phone (paid) but I can only imagine that to keep it alive they let anyone who wants a crack at it put it on their hardware. For all of the things that webOS did well, it didn’t sell or get marketed well.
Let’s see how this plays out as they release more info.

BTW: Web OS users were saying the same good things about their operating system and you see where they are. It is good for web OS to fail. If it is not wanted, why throw money into something that will eventually discontinue (Windows mobile).

Your post was stupid. Using your logic, Microsoft should have dropped the Xbox considering the first console only sold a little over 24 million, and they lost a whopping 6 billion dollars on it. Now look where Xbox is. I guess Google should have dropped Android as well, considering it took a year for it to go anywhere. Windows Phone is not even 10 months old.
