Improvements Come To Windows Phone Google Calendar and Email Experience
|Google has announced a couple of important and welcomed changes to their calendar and email experience for Windows Phone 7.5 users. The two changes are server-side search and multiple calendar support. Depending on the user one is more important than the other.
Server side search-Allows users to search for emails on their gmail account that is older than the 30 days that emails remain on their Windows Phone. This should result in a huge increase in productivity and lessen the headache of inconveniently having to wait to getting home to look up an older email.
Multiple Google Calendar Support-Now you can have access and view appointments and schedules from multiple Google calendars simultaneously. Great for those that have built their life around this particular Google service.

Also worth noting is that you can set up your WP7 e-mail to actually delete messages when you delete them from your WP7 device instead of just archiving them with no label. Just tested that and it worked well so no more keeping that mobile site around just to actually delete e-mail messages I don’t want to keep. I haven’t tried the server-side search and did the “iOS hack” a while back to get multiple calendars. It’s great to see this available without the hack. The only gotcha is that you need to switch your browser to mobile mode to see the settings page.
Pretty pleased with the changes to get the extra functionality on WP7 and a working delete. 🙂
Thanks for the tip Peter. That’s going to be very useful as I am overloaded with archived emails.
