OtterBox Acquires LifeProof and Combines Two Huge Brands
Two of the biggest companies in smartphone cases OtterBox and LifeProof are now one big happy family. OtterBox today announced that it has acquired LifeProof and it’s 250 employees and is now merging the brands together with it’s 650 employees worldwide. Details of the acquisition have not been disclosed as OtterBox is a privately owned company. For the time being LifeProof employees will stay put in their San Diego facility .
OtterBox was founded in 1998 and LifeProof in 2005 and is a DBA of TreeFrog Developments, Inc.
“The joining of OtterBox and LifeProof is a way to combine two great brands and provide customers with even more great products, services and choices for smartphone accessories,” OtterBox CEO Brian Thomas said. “Both companies are successful because we foster an environment where everyone takes pride in being part of a culture that knows how to identify opportunities and grow them quickly. Our goal in this acquisition is to create more value for our customers than we ever could have generated while operating individually.”
