Report Claims Online Murder a Real Threat

This is really scary and pushes the boundaries to just how evil people can be. Europol, the European Union’s criminal intelligence law enforcement agency, released a report laying out the real threat and how they felt it was eminent enough to happen by the end of this year. The report says that cyber hackers could take control of heart monitoring implants and cause injury or even possible death.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney even stated that he had the wireless portion of his implanted defibrillator deactivated for this very reason:

“Well, I was aware of the danger…that existed, but I found it credible,” Cheney said in an interview last year. “Because I know from the experience we had and the necessity for adjusting my own device that [the scene in Homeland] was an accurate portrayal of what was possible.”

C’mon people! We don’t need to do this! Apparently there is a growing underground where hackers can sell their vulnerabilities and be compensated securely while the vulnerability is spread to those who would exploit the elderly and sick for monetary gain.
