RIP XNA: Windows 8 Will Not Have XNA?
|Whoah what the??? I mean we had this awesome ability for devs to write a game/app for Xbox and use the same code on Windows Phones and then of course use it on the PC. And now?
OK there are lots of Tweets like the first and third so the death of XNA was a shot heard around the world. The tweet from KonajuGames seems to be on its own and I hope that what they’re reporting is more spot on. Clearly this is still playing out but if they are replacing XNA…well maybe they’re just doing what they’re doing with everything else and unifying code but there better be backwards compatibility and it better make developers happy…
To be continued but if you know something please share with the group.

A guy on Channel 9 confirmed that Metro UI doesn’t work with DirectX 9 (which xna is built on), so we’ll need a DirectX 11 implementation of xna before we’ll be able to use Metro UI.
