Slacker Radio Launches Windows Phone 7 App
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — Slacker, Inc. today announced the Slacker Radio Mobile app for the Windows® Phone 7 platform. The new app for Windows Phone 7 is debuting on the HTC HD7, exclusively from T-Mobile USA, allowing listeners to enjoy their favorite Slacker Radio stations while on-the-go. The free Slacker Radio app is pre-installed on the HTC HD7 and is available for other Windows Phone 7 devices by installing the Slacker app through the Windows® Phone Marketplace.
The new Slacker Radio application was designed specifically for Windows Phone 7 and leverages Windows Phone 7’s unique design capabilities, which includes panorama screens that allow users to access menus by panning left or right with the swipe of a finger.
"Windows Phone 7 is backed by a rich developer ecosystem that is building a variety of quality apps and games that take advantage of the phone’s unique features and design," said Todd Brix, senior director, Windows Phone Marketplace, Microsoft Corp. "Slacker Radio, with its visually stimulating design and panoramic menu is a great example of the dynamic apps that people will find on Windows Phone Marketplace," he continued.
The Slacker music experience includes free access to over 130 expert-programmed Slacker genre stations (including 11 curated stations for the holidays), thousands of artist stations backed by a song library that is over four times the size of the leading competitor.
Slacker Radio provides music fans with an unparalleled music discovery resource by providing artist biographies, album reviews and access to song lyrics. In addition to skipping songs and marking tracks as favorites, listeners can ban songs and artists to create perfect custom radio stations on their Windows Phone 7 handset.
