Verizon’s HTC Thunderbolt video at CES
|The Android 4G devices keep rolling out and now we have the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt Android 2.2 device that will come with a 4.3 inch WVGA screen, Dolby Surround Sound Speakers, front facing VGA camera and 8mp rear camera, as well as the Froyo Mobile Hotspot goodness we all have come to enjoy, and of course Adobe Flash Video.
The Verizon representative discusses the 4G network and how it is currently in 38 US Markets but plans to expand it in 2011 to another 140 Markets. The CES Show in Las Vegas is one of Verizon’s current 38 markets supporting 4G LTE and it was mentioned that some speeds of 15 mbps were being reached with a laptop and a USB Modem. Verizon is claiming 5-12mbps download should be standard and 2-5 mbps upload speed. ESPN on the Thunderbolt web browser loaded really quick but what was REALLY funny was at the 1:22 mark how the browser somehow loaded the Apple Insider web page which the Verizon Rep quickly turns the device around and shows off the kickstand and Dolby Surround Sound.
The Thunderbolt does not have an HDMI Hardware out capability but does have DNLA HD Media Sharing and it was mentioned that HTC would be coming out with a small DNLA peripheral for all this folks not having a DNLA TV.
The Thunderbolt will also come packing the now all too familiar 1GHz processor and have a deep integration with Skype for all the video chatting you could want. If you are in the market for an Android device you are really going to struggle to make up your mind as there is a lot of cool devices out there to choose from!
