Vodafone’s HTC Magic Coming With Malware Bot
|Some researchers over at the Panda Research Blog have discovered that Vodafone’s HTC Magic has been nicely equipped with the Mariposa Malware bot client. That’s not all, it was also found to have a Confiker and a Lineage password stealing malware.
“The interesting thing is that when she plugged the phone to her PC via USB her Panda Cloud Antivirus went off, detecting both an autorun.inf and autorun.exe as malicious. A quick look into the phone quickly revealed it was infected and spreading the infection to any and all PCs that the phone would be plugged into.”
‘”After the researcher plugged the HTC phone into the PC, the Mariposa client began trying to infect other PCs in the local network and also started trying to contact a remote server. The Panda researcher found that the client was not being run by the same group of alleged Spanish hackers who were arrested last week, but by someone named "tnls."”
