Google is rolling out a pretty neat new feature to their mobile browser based app Google News. When you fire up Google on your Android or iPhone device and select News, the location software will locate you and find relevant news from “about any city, state or country in the world with coverage from thousands of sources.” Local news is sourced from “every word in every story to understand what location the news is about and where the source is located.”

After you agree to allow Google to use your location then it will add the “News near you” option in the list of other news categories. When I pulled up Google News on my iPhone, the “News near you” category was all the way to the bottom, but had options to change the layout of the News at the bottom. So fire up your mobile browser and check out Google’s new “News for you” category added to Google News on your Android or iPhone device.
