TRex Hunt Comes to iOS and Android

January 28th, 2013 — 9:02am

So a game sponsored by a knife company?! Not a bad idea I guess, Cold Steel is a well known maker of high quality knives and their name is on the latest game for iOS and Android which is called TRex Hunt. The name kind of explains it all I think, but the game looks kind of neat. It’s a hunting game yes, but it’s really a recuse game, you’re a caveman and your mate has been kidnapped and you have to fight your way across the prehistoric island to rescue her. As the game progresses you gain access to more weapons, like you start out with rocks, then you move to spears. Something tells me it might be hard killing a TRex with a rock, but hey what do I know?!

trex2trex1

A new game for the iPhone, iPad and Android devices places the player in a caveman’s shoes to hunt stegosaurs, pterodactyls and tyrannosaurs. TRex Hunt is now available in the iTunes App Store and Google Play for $1.99.

The game uses 3D graphics to immerse the player in the ancient world. The player can explore an entire island in every direction, avoiding or confronting dinosaurs as they approach.

But this is no simple hunt. Boltar, an evil caveman, has kidnapped the player’s mate and a rescue must be mounted. Between the player and the island where she is being held are many flesh eating dinosaurs, including the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex.

The player begins with a simple club to hunt his prey. As the player progresses, he can purchase more and deadlier weapons using the bones of animals he’s killed. Each level makes more weapons available, including:

  •     Rocks
  •     Spears
  •     Bows & arrows

There are even arrow upgrades, including fire tipped and broad head arrows for increasing the lethality of each strike. A healing herb can restore some health the player might have lost to a dinosaur attack, and scent killer hides the caveman’s odor from the noses of predators. The more the player keeps in his inventory, the more likely he is to survive.

In the real world, of course, prehistoric man and dinosaurs did not exist at the same time; they were separated by tens of millions of years. In TRex Hunt, however, the two are thrust together in a battle for survival. If the player’s primitive weaponry skills can overcome the raw strength of the many tyrannosaurs he encounters, he will live another day.

TRex Hunt was created from the chronicles of Tim Wells, the world’s greatest primitive weapons hunter. Learn more about him and enter to win cash and prizes at http://www.timwellsbowhunter.com.

This app was developed for Tim Wells by Zco Corporation, one of the largest mobile app developers in the world.

SeaWorld Launches First Mobile Game, Turtle Trek, and it’s Free!

November 30th, 2012 — 6:11pm

Yeah it was bound to happen, the fish would get their own game!  Seriously though SeaWorld has just launched their first mobile game and they’re giving it away. It’s only on IOS sadly but Shamu is in it so it can’t be all bad right?

SEAWORLD PARKS & ENTERTAINMENT TURTLE TREK

SeaWorld® announced today the company’s first mobile game, Turtle Trek now available from the App Store℠.

Turtle Trek is a free game download for the iPhone and iPad. Players guide an adventuresome sea turtle on a quest across the beach and into the water to find friends.  They help the plucky sea turtle navigate through the perilous seascape and conquer a variety of challenges, some dangerous and some light-hearted.

With help from friendly characters such as Shamu the killer whale and Nyah the green sea turtle, players collect treasures and fill virtual sticker books with an array of ocean friends met during their trek. SeaWorld engaged Sleepy Giant through its Flying Grom label to create the new game.

Turtle Trek provides hours of fun and immersive action, and also offers an educational benefit by sharing fun facts about real sea animals.  Players encounter dozens of sea creatures but when they meet a special “Ocean Friend,” they gain a collectible virtual sticker for their Trek Book. At the touch of a finger, this virtual sticker opens to reveal interesting facts and photos about the actual ocean animal that the character resembles. These facts are kept easily accessible and can be shared with family and friends.

Since 2011, SeaWorld has recently begun expanding its popular brand into new media and entertainment platforms such as mobile games, movies, television and new lines of licensed consumer products.

“SeaWorld has a 50-year history of creating entertainment experiences that inspire people to connect with animals, and this type of entertainment is a natural extension for our company,” said Scott Helmstedter, Chief Creative Officer of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. “It is engaging and fun, but also instills a greater understanding of some of the ocean’s amazing animals.”

The game is the first to be offered under the new partnership between SeaWorld and Sleepy Giant. Sleepy Giant’s Flying Grom label is focused on working with brands to create compelling, family-oriented interactive experiences.

“We are thrilled to be working with SeaWorld, an exceptional brand and partner.  SeaWorld has a rich history of providing entertainment, education, and conservation in everything they do, and ‘Turtle Trek’extends that tradition with fun and learning,” said Matt Hannus, CEO of Sleepy Giant.

While Turtle Trek offers a free opportunity to download and play, additional purchasable content is available. A portion of proceeds from the purchasable content will be donated directly to the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund.

The game’s name and theme reflect the newest attraction at the SeaWorld Orlando theme park, also called “TurtleTrek.” The attraction blends up-close  encounters with live sea turtles and manatees with the world’s first 3D, 360 degree domed theater. In this attraction, guests get a turtle’s eye view of the world as they are surrounded on all sides – and even above – by the hyper-realistic 3D film that is journey of a special sea turtle named Nyah.
