WP Marketplace Facing High Volume of New Apps; MS Considering Cross Development Tools

imageMicrosoft’s Registered Developer Newsletter is out and there are some neat tidbits in this one. First up is a note about the timing on app submissions:

App Certification and Ingestion Delays
                                    We are aware and are tracking delays in the app certification, ingestion and publishing process. Testing is currently taking 24-48 hours and publishing an additional 24-48 hours. Thank you for your patience as we work to clear the queue and scale to handle the high volume of submissions.                                   

So there’s a clear spike in the number of new apps in submission at this time. This can be part of the Win8 effect or the Nokia effect…or just traction. Either way it’s good.

Curious to see where this will go. I know MS is a software company and they want to have cross-dev tools but that will really cut down on what makes their own platforms exclusive and unique.
