90% of Surfaces are RT: Just 10% Pro
|AdDuplex is serving ads across Windows platforms and is teasing more stats here. In the US, for all Surfaces, 9 of 10 are RT. That means the Pro didn’t sell like wild fire since we all know the RT sales were sparse. It all started with RT though and it was first to market and comes with Office. Hard to knock when I own one. But still that points to poor sales of the Pro version. Sent from my Windows Phone

This could also mean people are using more desktop applications than Metro apps and so a disproportionate amount of ads are being served on the RT.
In any case the vibe is that the Surface Pro sales are picking up stream. Hopefully Microsoft comes through with the update to the core apps for Windows 8 and Windows RT that can improve the user experience even more.
He can see unique devices. I presume he is counting it that way and not just ads served. I do agree though that people using Pro may not be running Metro apps. They may be using it like a desktop so they are hidden devices.
Curious what we’d see if we combed our own logs for RT versus Pro traffic. Need to do that with our own logs, not Analytics. To get started, the user agent for the RT is:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.2; ARM; Trident/6.0)
And the Pro:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.2; Win64; x64; Trident/6.0; Touch)
Smith, can you pull up the actual server log and give us the ratio behind how many times those two things appear? That would just be total traffic, not total unique visits, but it would give us an idea of what we’re getting, how close this 90% RT figure we’re seeing.
Or maybe it means that the forecasters simply can’t guess worth a damn and Microsoft had moved 300-400k Pros and 3-4M RTs. It’s as possible as any other theory.
Surface Pro here and I have to say it is my tablet and my mobile workstation of choice. Except for the battery time I have no complaints. I barely reach 3.5 hours of use!!!
Oh, 3.5 hours only sounds bad when you take into consideration how much longer everything else lasts these days. But when you instead focus on the fact that you can run the original version of Doom and QBasic, suddenly 3.5 isn’t such a small number of hours for a $1k mobile device in this decade.
You had me at Doom. I remember being in my dorm room late at night playing with friends down the hall.
Give me an updated graphic version of Doom and take my money.
