And So It Begins! Microsoft launches Windows Phone 7 Ad Barrage
|If you’ve been paying attention you know that sometime between the beginning of October and November that Windows Phone 7 will officially launch. Well WMPoweruser has unearthed and graced us with the first two commercials for ATT and they are featuring the HTC Mondrian. Personally the phone the way it looks at the end of the commercials look frickin’ SWEET but not so much the ones being held during the commercial. I’m hoping for the SWEET look. Take a look and leave your impressions in the comments below.

The second one made me laugh heartily.
I like what I see! Clever ads.
Pardone me while i giggle. Not at the commercials but at MS. The thought that i spend a fraction of a second sliding from a home screen to a widget. Then wait another second for it to load. Then assuming that i cant do more than one thing at a time while im waiting those few seconds. In essance waisting my life away. Like my phone decides how i spend my time and not me. Well thats just funny. Dr. Jim has some great articles on the affects of technology on our lives. Is MS trying to address this with there new out of the box os? So after everyone has there new wp7 peek over the shoulders of the person in line that needs to pay attention to the world around them and not there phone and see if its not a wp7 os they are choosing to stare at. Just a thought…
Brilliant Ads!
“Less stop and stare, more glance and go.”
Really clever!
I’d spam the heck out of the “glance and go” theme that Microsoft has attached to the new OS.
The next commercial should be of someone glancing at their phone looking at a live tile seeing their friends checking in using Foursquare or some other app from a hot party and he/she immediately hits the cab finally arriving and bringing new life into the already hot party.
They’re really calling it the HTC Mondrian? There wasn’t a better made up word they could have used?
Actually, I think it’s an appropriate name. Piet Mondrian was a Dutch artist.
Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piet_Mondrian): “He evolved a non-representational form which he termed Neo-Plasticism. This consisted of white ground, upon which was painted a grid of vertical and horizontal black lines and the three primary colors.”
Make it a background of black, and it might be a lot like the interface, no?
@MartiM
BRILLIANT!
pretty ingenious of HTC to pick that name, more ingenious for you to connect the dots.
It’s been a full week since the launch and I have yet to see a commercial on air or any print ad, from AT&T or otherwise, with the big W. Watched three Yankee games and saw commercials for Blackberry (AT&T), iPhone (AT&T) and Droid (Verizon) but no WP love. Sunday’s paper had a 4 page (actually 3.5 page) pullout for AT&T covering the front page. Anything for WP. Nope. The launch is over. What are they waiting for. If Microsoft thinks people are going to see an ad on November 8th, jump in the car and go buy a new phone, they are both stupid and crazy. Don’t know what they spent nearly a billion dollars on, but if you wait till mid-December you may be able to pick up a WP phone really cheap, just like the Kin.
