Apple testing iPhone 6 and iOS 7?
|According to a post over at TheNextWeb, developers have been noticing a device titled 6,1 and an OS code iOS7 popping in in their logs.
One developer showed us that Apple has been testing hardware relating to a new ‘iPhone6,1′ identifier, powered by a device running iOS 7, which is expected to be released by Apple in the middle part of this year.
This is not exactly exciting new, as we all know another iPhone will always be on the way, but the iOS 7 bit is particularly interesting to me. I am hoping Apple will pull it together to offer a truly innovative and much more modern UI with this version of the OS, something a lot less boring!
So what does this mean for the folks who ran out and waited on line for their iPhone 5? Probably nothing, I expect the iPhone 5 to live out a full product cycle, which usually means a year or so.
I am going to take a stab at this one, but I think Apple could be releasing an iPhone 5S along side the iPhone 6, sure it will be a first, but something like this certainly isn’t a tactic unknown the Apple.
One thing is for sure, it is getting increasingly more difficult to keep anything a secret these days, this bit of news sure does something from an unlikely source, I can’t help but wonder how we will catch wind of the new piece of news.
Okay, I kind of get how you want to continually put out new products, in a Billy Joel “But if I go cold, then I won’t get sold/I’ll get put in the back in the discount rack/Like another can of beans” kind of way, but HONESTLY! A new version, new OS every year? I can understand how people can get frustrated and feel like why buy a device when it’s just going to be obsolete in a year.
What do you mean by testing here?
