Ask the Readers: How do you like your eggs?
|Personally, I’m a scrambled sort of eggs guy. I don’t like sunny side up or even over easy. If I had my way about it, I’d get a huge order of pancakes. There are a lot of people who do in fact like over easy, and then even more that could care less about breakfast. What’s my point? Well, reviews and how we do things around here at Mobility Digest. Maybe you’ve noticed, maybe you haven’t, but I have been reviewing a lot of devices lately and other sorts of devices accessories. Let me be the first to tell you that reviewing devices is incredibly time consuming and I feel strongly that if an OEM sent me a device to review, they are going to get their monies worth in effort. Now, I only get loaner devices that are returned after a week or two, that is unless I can beg to keep them longer like the Galaxy Nexus, that is consequently number one on Simmons Post Rank experiment on the top of the sidebar. So after some lengthy debates with the team here, we have come to am impasse on what the readers want when reading a review. Have we all become a bullet-point, less is more, video only reader community? Or do you still fancy the long drawn out review format I currently use. (look here for my latest reviews)
I’m willing to go the extra mile for you guys, but I won’t be wearing a Simmons Cam. So I currently have a LG Spectrum, a 1.5GHz Dual Core hot rod up for a review. What do you guys want to see? Got questions, send them to me, or leave a comment below. I am really interested to hear your feedback, and honestly, so would the companies that send us stuff to review. I might be able to see who’s looking at what, but I want to know your thoughts. Believe me, you don’t want to get into our heads! So thanks for stopping by and let us know what you would like to see more of from our content.

I like eggs. Don’t care how they’re cooked.
Had Eggs Benedict w/Salmon and Spinach the other day while I was at Tico’s in Marina, CA, and they were the best eggs I’d ever had. But I will just as readily chow down on some scrambled w/cheese at the local Cracker Barrel.
I still like the written format with closeup shots thrown in. It gives me a good chance to drool over the tech I don’t need but want. Plus I usually read when I’m someplace I don’t want audio of some tech reviewer blaring across the room, so I actually rarely even open the videos unless it happens to be posted near my lazy Saturday morning or it’s for a more expensive buy (like the Navigon demo videos I poured over on multiple sites). For actual devices, I’m always looking for a good description of how it feels in-hand.
Either way, I’m glad you guys put up the reviews with a few rants mixed in. As much as I don’t understand why Simmons has such a short fuse on some stupid stuff, I’m glad to watch/read the drama unfold! Just part of what makes this my favorite place to keep up on the new tech toys!
I watched a video review of a device I am interested in cause I didn’t see a written review. The video totally turned me off. The device looked awful.
I find myself flipflopping while I read the reviews. Yes, No, I want it, I hate it.
I have been buying based on specs mostly, not reviews, for the last 2 devices, and have been satisfied with my purchases.
Peace
I’m pretty much in line with Eddie: nicely written reviews, with tones of info preferred, with a short video for extra eye candy is okay. I want to know how it feels in the hand, and that’s best said in words. I’m not always in a place that I can listen to audio.
Oh yeah, and I’m a scrambled eggs, hard (meaning veryvery dry) gal. Mostly because my dad’s weekend breakfast when I was growing up (and it still is, but I’m no longer living at home – YAY) is a fried egg, with lots of oil and it smelled up the house something AWFUL.
Thanks to everyone who commented so far. Just wanting to make sure we are delivering the best content possible and with information changing so much and the way we consume it, it had occurred to me that perhaps I am getting a little long winded. In fact with the few comments we have gotten so far that it seems to be exactly what everyone wants. Stay the course.
I mostly prefer little endian, though I have been dabbling in Blefuscan customs lately.
