Google Maps can now get Android owners out of a jam
Google Maps just keeps getting better and better. This newest update for Android owners using Google Maps Navigation (Beta) can now get themselves out of a traffic jam by simply firing up the app and allowing Google Maps “routing algorithms” to “apply our knowledge of current and historical traffic to select the fastest route from those alternates.” Before Google Maps simply picked the fastest route without applying any current information to it’s choice of routes, but now it will find that data and map out some options from you to choose from. It might be that instead of the shortest route, Google Maps routes you in a round about way using a highway to avoid trouble, save you time, and gas money.
You can begin routing around traffic with Google Maps Navigation for Android in North America and Europe where both Navigation and real-time traffic data are available.
