Google Releases An Official Android Google Reader App
|I didn’t even know this didn’t exist, but since it didn’t and now does, guess it’s news. Features:
- Multiple accounts
- Synced preferences
- Full subscription features (subscribe and search from your phone)
- Search
- Volume-key navigation: if you enable this in the settings, you can navigate by using your phone’s volume keys for next and previous
- Long-press on a folder or subscription to bring up a contextual menu that lets you rename, unsubscribe or change folders
- If you hit the menu key on an individual item, you can use the “send” feature which integrates with other apps on your phone to send the item using any 3rd party app
The comments note that there are no alerts for new items or for setting it to automatically update in the background (not just manually). It’s a start though. Here’s the link to the Android Market:

bout time. i checked reader on my phone four times today alone. this should be nicer than having to open the browser. i just downloaded it and… flash doesnt seem to work. o_O come on google. the next and previous buttons are nice, no longer have to hit the microscopic “next item” link on the website, or scoll down to the bottom and select the next. i do have to say, i dont really want notifications as the top everytime a new feed update comes in, cause thatll be every two minutes, so the lack of that doesnt bug me. but i do wish i could see the unread count on the icon though, similar to how iphones act. and same for gmail! i think i may be making room on my homescreen for this one though…
i change my mind on the icon with unread count. what it needs instead… a widget.
