Mango Coming “in the next week or two”
|Early fall is just days off and it seems like Microsoft is delivering Mangos for the Fall as they said they would. In their latest blog post they note “For months, we and dozens of our partner companies have been laying the groundwork for the Windows Phone 7.5 update—and making solid progress. As a result, we now expect to start rolling it out in the next week or two.”
They also warn against installing the ROMs that are floating out there are they lack carrier customizations which is something we’ve known for a while.
Let’s do this AT&T – don’t screw me. Oh and while we’re at it, I could use some news that I can update to Mango from my dev build MS. Anything?
UPDATE: MS just clarified a bit “Hi everybody. Thanks for your questions. I’ll have more details to share about the update once it begins in the next week or two. But by “roll out” I mean we’ll be starting the actual delivery process–emphasis on starting.” So we’re like 3 months off again…
This is great news and all, but just because they’re releasing it soon doesn’t mean we’re going to get it anytime soon. Knowing AT&T it’ll take six months to a year to get it out to us… like they did with Froyo on my Captivate, they’re ridiculous with their releases and updates..
love this news. i have been holding off on tweaking my phone. i hope that this wait for mango is worth it. i have many cards on the table… i have told many friends that the reason my phone is not up to speed with the leading cellphones in sales is because of the AWE factor that will be more present in the mango update.
As I mentioned on the Windows Phone blog:
I think you guys need calm down just a little. Based on the evidence that is out there, Microsoft is giving us exactly what we asked for last time. There are reports that the carriers from around the world have already OK’d the update and are waiting for Microsoft to distribute. All this points to Microsoft trying to give us an “Apple Like” roll out so when they announce it everyone will get it at the same time. It seems as if they are trying to be more transparent about things than Apple meaning that they still give us information rather than shrouding everything in a veil of secrecy.
T-Mo handled the last one pretty well, hoping they do it again.
I think if this update hits before the end of the year a certain Doug loses a bet.
I’ve been telling my friends the exact same thing that @norcal colby has bee telling his friends/ I’m really exited about Mango, can wait to get it!!!
@Matt Anderson: Sure does. I still have a screen capture of my bet with Simmons. He pulled my card and it looks like its coming up aces! Even going to have an evil laugh cued up for the occassion.
