More Smartphones Were Sold in Q4 2010 Than PCs
|Well, it was fun while it lasted Microsoft, but in Q4 2010 there were 101 million smartphones sold and only 92 million PCs sold so there are more mobile OSes than Windows licenses being activated. Now it’s really not the same thing as a mobile OS costs somewhere between free and $12 depending on who’s selling it and a PC license is a multiple of that. But still, this is all an indication as to where this whole thing is headed. No, I don’t think PCs are dead or anywhere close to dead. We still sit at desks all day and use PCs. But the mobile market is exploding and PCs need to innovate quickly.
