MS Instructions On How To Flash a Windows Phone 7 Device
|So with the RTM release of the developers tools also came a new OS build for those lucky enough to have a developers device in hand. And in order to update the phone you needed to flash it (so it’s a significant update). Nothing overly exciting here, but something about flashing WP7 gives me hopes that someone will crack this for the HD2. Anyway, here’s the official instructions:
Flashing your device (Note: You will lose all data on the device!)
Download the appropriate Image (*.ffu) for your device off the Connect Website locally to your computer If you have a Samsung device you’ll want to use the “Taylor” images if you have an LG device you’ll want to use the “Pacific”images
Power your Samsung (Taylor) or LG (Pacific) device up and into the OSPlug the device into your computer
a. Once the device drivers have installed you should have a new entry (Windows Phone) in Device Manager under Windows Mobile USB Devices Close Zune if it is currently running open up a Command Prompt
a. Check and make sure the device is correctly seen by the Computer by running the following command:
i. Updatewp /list
1. If your phone is pin locked you will be prompted to unlock the device
b. Flash the device by running the following command:
i. Updatewp /ffu œpath to the *.ffu you downloaded in Step 3 [Note that’s a reference to the download of the proper image for your device]
1. If your phone is pin locked you will be prompted to unlock the device
2. Your phone will reboot and start the flashing process (this may take up to 10 minutes)
a. DO NOT un-plug your device during the flashing process as this will break the device
3. Should you get any errors during the flashing stage please contact support
c. Confirm that the device updated correctly i. Go through OOBE ii. Go to the Settings -> About -> More Info page and confirm that the build is 7.0.7003.0
Do you have the ffu file for a Samsung Taylor in order to update it to build 7004?
