Paul Thurrott: HTC Trophy Coming To Verizon In January
|The guy is an insider with a sold track record and he’s hearing that the HTC 7 Trophy is headed to Verizon in January. I’m betting he’s right because of who he is. This is phone has both CDMA and GSM bands so it’s global. It’s a 3.8” screen and otherwise typical for WP7:
it has 8gb of storage, 5mp/720HD camera and 330 minutes of talk on CDMA, 405 minutes on GSM. So Verizon users, excited yet?

I know the HTC Trophy started out at 8GB, but the Verizon CDMA version should be released with 16GB onboard, what “should” be the minimum standard. I anticipate that this will be a reason for potential users to look at other devices (Android & iPhone/CDMA). If I was a Verizon custom I would probably pass on the Trophy.
If LG or Samsung (or Dell) introduce something soon via Verizon, with more than 8GB memory, it will guarantee the Trophy’s dismal launch.
Yeah with 8GB and no other noteworthy feature it would be toast on Verizon. Come packed with 16GB and a nice price out the door and they have a chance especially if Verizon comes up with their own Windows Phone 7 campaign that features maybe Xbox Live or Zune.
Well it looks like Engadget says this Verizon model will have 16GB of memory. Let’s hope so for the sake of WP7 and CDMA users.
I’m hoping for a Samsung phone no later than March. With them saying they’re making WP7 a priority wouldn’t that make sense? Also HTC being as generic as humanly possible just doesn’t intrigue me enough (Sprint gets the cool one …).
Still, its good to hear news of the 1st CDMA device coming so soon.
