Send Text Messages Through Email
|Here’s another little known fact (unless you’ve been around long enough to know it:)) which I saw was dug up the other day. If you don’t have an unlimited text messaging plan but you want to Send text message Online you can do it for free – by sending an email. All you do is send an email to number@txt.att.net and the recipient will receive a text message. Look at the picture to see what it will look like but make sure you don’t leave your email signature on – it’s just not cool to receive a text with a complete signature block. When the text message is responded to you will receive an email so by doing this everything stay as email on your side and text messaging on the other side. You do need to know the carrier the recipient uses and always type the entire ten digit number without spaces, dashes or parenthesis. The major carriers are as follows:
Verizon: number@vtext.com
Sprint: number@messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile: number@tmomail.net
Alltel: number@message.alltel.com
The remaining carriers are here.
Data24-7 offers a service which will look-up your phone numbers and give you back the name of the carrier and the correct e-mail addresses to use to send SMS and MMS messages. The link is: http://www.data24-7.com.
