imageAnyone shocked? Really? I mean Microsoft said “Both will be sold in the Microsoft Store locations in the U.S. and available through select online Microsoft Stores.” and then this Swedish retailer pops up with a crazy price and anyone thought it had validity? Didn’t we learn from the iPhone 4S case manufacturers (if you recall they just made up the sizes based on what they were guessing but they had no ‘knowledge’). Anyway, the Swedish website has now gone on record:

Our customers are very interested in pre-ordering these products, so we have set a high preliminary pricing for the lineup so that they may be able to pre-order them.

Just to clarify, we have not received any pricing from Microsoft regarding MRSP or purchasing net cost, and any people who have booked the Surface at this high price will of course have their order adjusted before any product is shipped. So we’re not going to overcharge anyone for being an early adopter.

So just ignore the last day of noise…oh and if you want the next generation of Kindle I’m going to let you pre-order through me for $500…or I’ll do a new new iPad for $1500 if you want.

  1. GUARANTEED that NONE of the mainstream tech sites (ie apple fan sites) that picked this up originally will post a follow up story on this retraction.

  2. Haha, I see the dimmed face of Adrian King-Hughesly of ZDNET who said Surface will fail because of that price yesterday, and is hiding under rocks. Also disappointed are ABM Toons. :D
