Verizon adds 16 more 4G LTE markets by September 15th

Back in July we posted that Verizon was going to expand their 4G LTE coverage to 102 total markets by bringing on 28 new markets, and today they are announcing the addition of 16 more by September 15th. Somehow ever, Verizon lost a market because they are now claiming their total market coverage will be at 117 instead of 118 which it should have been. The missing market? Not sure because they did not include the total markets covered in their press release, but suffice to say, someone got hosed in the deal or they just combined 2 markets last go around. In any case, Big Red is rolling out even more markets and I don’t think many will be complaining much about it.

Verizon Wireless Brings Its 4G LTE Network To Central Illinois On September 15

SCHAUMBURG, IL — Verizon Wireless announced today that the company is launching the world’s first large-scale 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Bloomington/Normal, Champaign/Urbana and Springfield, Ill., on Sept. 15. Already, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network is available in 117 cities across the United States, covering more than 160 million Americans or half the U.S. population. With the new market launches, residents with 4G LTE devices in these areas will be able to take advantage of speeds up to 10 times faster than the company’s 3G network. Verizon 4G LTE smartphones are twice as fast as any AT&T smartphone.
