Looks like Microsoft is going to help make it easier to get involved with politics. They just announced a series of ways that Xbox will help to get involved this election cycle. I think the best feature is the app itself:

Microsoft will also be offering Election 2012 on Xbox LIVE, an immersive and interactive experience highlighted by a content-rich elections “hub” that will feature:

  • Live broadcasts of the presidential debates and the "Conversations with the Next Generation" forums

  • Information on how users can register to vote

  • In-depth data on the candidates and their stands on the issues

  • A series of polls seeking Xbox users’ opinions of various aspects of the elections

  • Full coverage of the balloting results on election night

  • A "Rock the Vote" concert featuring some of the hottest stars in pop music

And in what promises to be one of the most exciting features of Election 2012 on Xbox LIVE, users will be able to rate the performances of the candidates during the presidential debates in real-time, and instantly see how other Xbox users are voting.

Pretty neat as it makes getting into politics more social and fun.

  1. I really don’t like politics, I sure as hell don’t want politics mixed with my gaming… wonder which candidate paid Microsoft for that, or which candidate MS is endorsing through this ?!

  2. This is like MTV donig Rock the Vote…getting the youth interested. Well, just don’t add it to your console;)

  3. “•In-depth data on the candidates and their stands on the issues”

This is one of the most difficult things to find anymore. No one publishes position papers anymore. That *might* be worth it, if it’s decent.

Remember what your grandmother told you: Never discuss 3 things with your friends: politics, religon, and money.
