Today the official Amazon app went live. Here’s the description:

The Amazon Shopping Application for Windows Phone 7 allows you to quickly search, shop, compare prices, read reviews, and make purchases on Amazon.com using a simple, intuitive interface. Amazon customers have full access to their existing cart, wish lists, payment and shipping options, order history, 1-Click (R) settings, and Prime membership benefits. All purchases made on the Amazon App are routed through Amazon’s secure servers just as they are on the web. All prices are in US Dollars.

It’s available now in the Lifestyle category. Simultaneously the app AmazonIntelligence was removed from the Marketplace.

Unfortunately, we received a letter from amazon and Microsoft today saying we had to pull the app out of the marketplace.  Apparently, amazon has a clause in their terms of use that we cannot build a mobile application that accesses their APIs/data.

We’re going to try to work something out – and hope to be back soon – maybe with a different app name.  If that’s the case, we’ll send one more mail letting you know, in case you want to install it.

You would think that an app that redirects sales to you would be a good thing…
