We hear the question all the time – can I use my phone as a compass. In the US the only WM phone that has a digital compass is the HD2. Of course, the alternative to a compass is GPS but that requires you to move around and typically you would fire up Bing or Goog Maps to see which way you’re heading. I just saw a $.99 app on Marketplace that’s a simple GPS based app to tell you which way you’re headed. Yes, you need to walk about 10’ but then it tells you your direction, speed, latitude and longitude. And without calling a mapping app it’s easier to find location without a cell tower signal (since this is just using raw GPS). There are definitely alternatives out there but for $.99 I bet a few of you would appreciate this.
