There’s been talk about the Venue Pro having less ram than the HD7 (256MB vs 512MB respectively). I thought we’d give these two a real world test to see which is faster. The Focus has been shown to be faster than the HD7, but the Focus has NAND chips that could tip the scales in its favor. However, both the Venue Pro and the HD7 use only MicroSD cards. For recap’s sake, both devices come packed with a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor. The HD7 has 512MB of ram while the Venue Pro has either 256 or 512MB, Dell has not officially stated how much RAM is installed since phones started shipping. Let’s see which one is faster shall we?
As you can see from the video, the Venue Pro smokes the HD7. I find this particularly strange since they have essentially the same internal components and if anything the HD7 should come out on top. Perhaps Dell spent more time optimizing its drivers while HTC was busy making exclusive apps. Or maybe Dell opted for a higher performing microSD card, this is all speculation, but that’s part of the fun isn’t it? What do you think is the reason for the performance gap?
