Disable LockScreen – HD2 Stops Freezing….It’s Magic
|I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – NRGZ is a genius. I saw this tweet from him yesterday and since my HD2 (since the TMo ROM upgrade) had a weird freezing issue especially in Sense and I don’t like the lockscreen anyway I figured I’d go about disabling it to see what happens…and it’s fixed. If you’re using a TMo HD2 with the 6.5 lockscreen enabled disable the thing – it’s doing bad stuff. [There’s still a little bug in HTC Messaging but that’s a separate issue entirely.] There are two lockscreens on the HD2 – disable them both and just use the power key to turn your screen on and off. The registry values are:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Lockscreen = 0
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\DeviceLockWhenSuspend = 0 [if you don’t have this then add it]
Soft reset…wait for it…wait for it…smile 🙂
You missed something:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Lockscreen
Enable = 0
That’s not what his tweet means…
The CHT lockscreen is where the issue is, not the MS one, and if it is the MS one giving you issues, that’s HTCs fault!
The 6.5 lockscreen is pretty to look at but in practice it blows. Just use the old-style one; it’s ugly, but at least it doesn’t break your device.
The standard lock screen works just fine, also CHT 1.8 just came out and I have been told the freezing issue was fixed… downloading now 🙂
Thanks. This registry changes helped after my HD2 changed the lock screen password (don’t know how it happens but seems an issue with the gtx theme) and without this registry values i’d have to hardreset
wat is the step to disabled the lockscreen, pls help. tks alot
all i did was: go to
and just deleted it, then restart the phone. That way I didn’t have to slide the little bar anymore it was just the small bar at the bottom that says its so much better
