Not only is the Kienct for Windows SDK now out but all of those developers in attendance just got a free one. Brilliant shit. Kinect is a way to keep the PC distinct from any mobile OS you can find. The integration of a full array of sensors (camera, voice and depth) are a shitton of potential for developers and users. MS just kept the PC market alive and thriving…very well played.

I live in Manhattan and frequently use the subway, the place of maybe the highest exposed phone concentration and I have not seen one single Windows Phone phone.
I have however seen at least two of those Palm/Handspring Treos. Maybe those two people will stumble really really wildly into the Windows Phone display section of some AT&T dealership and I’ll run into them again.

We’re all becoming way too friendly with Chris’ ass for my comfort level here. Anyway, WP7 still has a way to go. This ‘fall’ thing is pretty far away, as is Nokia (who was in attendance but barely said anything) but there’s enough marketshare to go around and MS will pick it up pretty quickly and since they’ll integrate with your PC and Xbox it will help them to grow. With that said, the next few months (aside from finally releasing a VZ phone and maybe some new phones with the same specs we have already) I didn’t hear any news that gets people to go buy a phone today if they weren’t interest in it yesterday…

What none of us can seem to do is spot a stranger anywhere with a Windows Phone that we didn’t convert ourselves or find in the back corner of an AT&T dealership holding a empty demo model.
You know what’s funny to me? One of the things? Is that both you and the vocal part of our audience (our Android audience is there, just don’t have as much isolationism plaguing them fueling their own shit talk) think that you’re right when you’re taking on me when deep down, as is evident over and over in the declined wagers I offer to make, you know I’m right. For those of you who agree with that statement subconsciously, I renew my year-old advice to short RIM if you want to make some money without betting me directly.

As for my Omnia7, I obviously got the 16GB model. 8GB just doesn’t cut it no matter how much cloud storage comes with it.

Well he only “admitted” to it by visiting the site in the past using his phone, reporting its make and other details (and I was showing off). You could always spoof your user agent if you were embarrassed about your device if you were in his shoes somehow — no wait, that’s exactly the sort of thing I bet you cannot do on WP7. Because it’s for people who get scared if they see an Advanced section of a settings menu, so they’re better off with only a few things to adjust like font size and offering to remember passwords maybe.
Damn… They’re just phones, people. They’re giving the dang things away on Amazon (WP7 and Android anyway, Apple still thinks they’ve got some reason to charge $200 for their crap). I think the technology is great, but it’s not like you prove your intellectual superiority by picking one free smartphone over another.
Unless of course you picked up a slick new windows phone that never has to ask you “Force process to close?”. 😀

I’ve seen somewhere in the high teens on the subway now (since I got mine in January). More on the J, F and 6 than anything else but then again, I was looking for them, Simmons. Most are the Focus, some are HD7. A lot more on the LIRR (saw an Omnia 7 this morning, guy definitely didn’t look like he knew of a word of english, makes sense that he was going toward the airtrain).
For the record, I don’t know if I appreciate the subject line, the struggle to define the purposes/uses of Ramon’s ass or the fact that whenever you post something it strongly resembles a tumblr page for a PETA supporter but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.
I’ve tried talking friends and family members into going the Android route (pre-WP7), but I kept getting interrupted by other friends of theirs interjecting “Don’t go with Droid! I have one and I HATE IT.” (Yes, these discussions were on Facebook–which might be saying something right there.) Given VZ’s dumb early marketing strategy, in which EVERY Android phone was a “Droid” (and not just the Motorolas), I’m not sure if they were objecting to the OS or to a particular handset. I couldn’t ask, either, because their hatred for everything associated with the platform made it impossible to get them to speak calmly on the subject.
On the other hand, I have several other friends who purchased WP7 handsets and speak very highly of them. I had nothing to do with their purchasing decisions: I don’t even have a WP7 handset, myself, and didn’t talk to them about it beforehand.
I understand that this is just a small sample, but these experiences have shaped my impression of the two OSes in obvious ways.
