The Last Text From a 22 Year Old Colorado Student
|I stewed over how to write this most of the afternoon. Most likely everyone has seen this floating around the news as it is really trending right now. It is a text message from a 22 year old University of Northern Colorado student named Alexander Heit that never got to finish the text that lead to his tragic death. His parents, who released the image attached to this article, recovered the phone after the accident and realized right away what he had been doing before the accident. The crash happened on April 3rd in Greely Colorado and Alex died a short time after. It is heartbreaking to write this and I felt compelled to pass this along to all our readers so perhaps it will be a reminder that the next time you text and drive, it could very well be your last time.
In a statement released through police, Heit’s mother says texting while driving can "tear a hole in the heart of everyone who loves you."
